In the Fatter of Proclaiming the
Period of November 12, 1967 to
November 23, 1967 as "National RESOLUTION ISO. 67/822
Retarded. Children' s Week." }
WHEREAS mental retardation is a problem which affects
almost six million individuals in America today; and.
WHEREAS 16,000 mentally retarded children and adults
live in Centra Costa. County; and
WIEREAS the most effective weapons for prevention and
alleviation of this serious affliction are public knowledge and
understanding; and
WHEREAS during the month of November the California Council.
for Retarded Children and the Contra. Costa County Association
for the Mentally Retarded, units of the National Association
for Retarded. Children, are carrying on an educational campaign;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it does
hereby proclaim the period from November 1.2, 1967 to November 23,
1967 as "National Retarded. Children' s 'eek" and does hereby
urge the citizens of all cities and towns in Contra Costa County
to give their full support to this effort to overcome mental.

AYES: Supervisors James P . Kenny, .Alfred M. Dias,
Jams E. Moriarty.
NOES: None.
