F AS the City of El Cerrito, California was incorporated
In 1917 and is in this year 1967 celebrating its fiftieth anniversary
as a city and
TWIHEREAS the area occupied by the City of El Cerrito has a
rich history extending back; to early settlers in the days of the
Missions and Mexican land grants; and
'KM `EAS the City of El Cerrito during its five decades as
a city has grown from a rural community with 1, 100 inhabitants to a.
thriving community with a. population of 30,000 residents, has developed.
with an appropriate balance between residential and commercial and
Industrial components, has acquired a widespread reputation as a
desirable place to live and enjoy the; amenities of life, and is well
known for its fine government and citizen interest in public affairs;
and
'WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
California is well aware of the progress made by the City of l Cerrito
and is deeply appreciative of the cooperation extended to the county
government by the City of El Cerrito;
NOW, THEREFOR' , on the motion of Supervisor A. M. Dias,
seconded. by Supervisor J. P. Kenny, BE 1T BY THIS BOARD OF SUPZR+11SORS
;SCLVE�L that it extends sincere congratulations to the City of
El Cerrito on the occasion of its Golden Anniversary and, herpes that
the "Little Hill" community will continue to be a city of great accom.-
