Civil Service 1 eek. ) RESOLUTION C. 67/43 WHEREAS National Civil Service Week marks the 84th ,anniversary of the Federal. Civil Servide Act of 1883F and WHEAS the work and the responsibilities of the federal government affect the life of every American each days and WHMPAS the scope of federal employment encompasses virtually every profession, trade, and skip.., inclusive of 155,000 Scientists, engineers, and technicians engaged in vital work in hundreds of laboratories and related installations S and WHEREAS federal employees engage in vital and, diverse activities, such as printing and minting our money, controlling narcotics, regulating immigration, conserving natural resources, bringing electricity into rural homes, operating the social security program, and forecasting the weather, and in fact participate in hundreds and hundreds of services that affect the public health, welfare, economy, and national security; and WHEREAS nearly half of the cork forces of the federal government are employed in direct support of air, ground, and sea forces 1 and WHEREAS most of the employees of the federal govern- ment are assigned to positions in communities throughout the United States and to posts all around the worldr and NOWl THEREFORE* SS IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED in recognition of the vital and, indispensable role of the federal government and the civil service staffing of its central, regional, and local offices that the period from January lb, 1957 through Januar* 22 1967 be designated as Civil Service Week; and BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that all residents of the county are urged. to ,loin with federal agencies and. employees in the observation of the 84th Anniversary of the signing of the Federal Civil.
