WHEREAS assembly Bill No. 938 is now receiving final con-
sideration by the California Stater Legislature; and
WHENEAS said Assembly Bill would add provisions to the County
Employees' Retirement haw of 1937 to permit safety members with the
required minimum gears of servicer to retire at age 50, rather than
age 55; and
WREFIEAS Honorable Hugh X. Burns, Senator, Sixteenth District,
has proposed amendments to said bill_ which would make it option,al with
each affected county, rather than mandatory; and.
'REAS said amendments to the bill have been endorsed by
the County Supervisors Association of California;
NOW, TRE WORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board hereby
ENDORSES said Assembly Bill leo. 9.38 with the amendments proposed by
Senator Burns.
BE IT BY THE .BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that Honorable
George Miller,. Jr. , , Senator, Seventh District,, be requested to
support_ the position of the county so .that said. Assembly Bill No. 938
will be permissive rather than mandatory, with decision to be made by
the Board of Supervisors.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 6th day of June, 1967 by the follow-
ing Vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Thomas ;John Coll,
Edmund A. Linsche id.
NOES.. None.
ABSENT: Supervisors Alfred M. Dias, Fames E. Moriarty.
