HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011967 - 67-393 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Adjournment } In the Memory of Veterans } Losing their Lives in the } SOLUTION NUMBER 67/393 Service of the United States } of America, } } WHEREAS the peoples of the United States of America have just observed Memorial Tray on May 30, 1967 and by various appro- priate means expressed their gratitude to the Veterans who have lost their lives in the service of their country; and WHEREAS constant vigilance is required to preserve for present and the future for all Americans the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and WHEREAS today the United Stated of America has some of its armed forces fighting far away in Vietnam to preserve for itself and, others the opportunity to pursue the democratic gray of life and has other components of its armed forced deployed at home and abroad to protect itself and other nations from aggression; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it expresses its deep appreciation to the present and past members of the armed forces of the United States of America and adjourns its official meeting on May 31, 1967 in the memory of these soldiers, sailors$ and marines who have made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives so that their fellowmen may live in peace and freedom. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 31st day of May, 1967 by the fol- lowing lowing vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Alfred M. Dias, James E. Moriarty, Thomas Jahn. Coll, Edmund. A.
