HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011967 - 67-266 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVIS02S OF CONTBA COSTA COUNTio STATE OF ClOIYORNIA in the Matter of Allocation of State Highway Funds between RESOLUTION NUMBER 67/266 Northern and Southern California. WHEREAS under existing state law state highway funds are allocated on the basis of 55 per cent to Southern California and 45 per cent to Northern California using the Mayo-Breed Formula; and WHEREAS legislation Is being considered to change this basis of allocation to provide a greater percentage allocation to Southern California and a lesser percentage allocation to Northern California; and WHEREAS both the road needs of Southern California and the road needs of Northern California are recognized to be greater than can be financed with funds which are currently available; and WHEREAS a change in the percentage allocation of funds improving the road financing situation in Southern California and, deteriorating the road financing situation In Northern California is not considered desirable In terms of the overall highway needs of the state and with respect to the development of an inte grated. statewide network of highways; NOW, THEnSFORE1 BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it is strongly opposed to any change in Mayo-Breed Formula which would alter the present percentage basis and provide a lesser amount of funds for Northern California; and BE 1T BY THIS BOAAD FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable George Miller, jr. , Senator, Seventeenth District, the Honorable John T. Knox, Assemblyman, Eleventh District, and the Honorable James W. Dent, Assemblyman , Tenth District, urging them to support the position of this Board on this matter. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Alfred M. Dias , james E. Moriarty, Thomas John Coliq Edmund A. Linscheld. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
