ORDINANCE NO. 517
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SPEED OF VEHICLES ON
CERTAIN COUNTY ROADS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA
k COSTA, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIO-
LATION

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra.
Costa, State of California, do ordain as .follows:
SECTION I: DEFINITION: The word "vehicle" as employed
in this ordinance shall include all vehicles and other objects how-
it soever propelled or curried, which are moved over the hereinafter
.referred to county roads .

SECTION IIs The Speed to be traveled by any vehicle
over the hereinafter described roads is hereby fixed as follows :
35 wiles per hour Upper Valley Road from
the State Highway northerly to its junction with. Lower Happy Valley
Road, and Lower Happy Valley Read from its junction with Upper Happy
Valley Read southeasterly to State Highway.
5 miles per hour from Oak Park Boulevard from the
State Highway westerly to its junction with. Pleasant Hill Road at
the Pleasant Hill School. .
SECTION III. The County Surveyor is hereby authorized
end directed to place standard speed limit signs along and upon said.

roads to indicate said speed limits.
SECTION IV. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
shall be punished by a fine of not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) , or by imprisonment in the Counter Fail for a period not
to exceed. six (6) months, or by both such, fine and imprisonment.

i SECTION V: This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30)
days after the date of its adoption, and prior to the expiration of
fifteen (1 5) days from the passage hereof, shall be published at least
