The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
stato of California, do hereby ordain as follows.
SECTION 'I. Section 4 of Ordinance No 382 is hereby
amended by the addition of a Subdivision „ at the end thereof
as foliowsz
Neighborhood business district - {Map Designation ;I B}
Subsection 1. All of the uses permitted in a 'single
family residehtial district, multiple family residential district-A,
transition residential agricultural district, and residential sub.
urban distrire � t
ogether with such uses as are permitted by they ,pro
visions of th .s or after the granting of land use permits for
the uses authorized to be granted in any of the said districts.
Subsection 2. or the currying on of neighborhood busi-
fless which is defined as a barter, sale or exchange of personal
property or service to the consumer of such goads and services as
are necessary' for the day to day maintenance of a family in a ream
denee. Such neighborhood business shall be maintained wholly with-
in enclosed buildings, except that parking lots for the temporary
parking of vehicles of patrons at and in such neighborhood busi-
nesses need not be enclosed. Such uses shall include all of the
following uses, and others of like character:

Bakery goodsshops, barber and. beauty 'shops, delicatessen
shops, drug stones, grocery stores, laundry' and cleaning' agencies
and press shops, meat markets, variety stores, gasoline service
stations, shoe repair shops, professional offices and real estate
offices.
Subsection 3. Lot area All buildings or parts of
buildings hereafter erected or altered for use for neighborhood,
business shall be situated on a lot area of not lase that thirty-
five hundred (3500) square feet, and all such lots shall have an
average width of not lass than thirty-five (35) feet.
Subsection 4. Height: No building or structure, or
part thereof, hereafter erected for a neighborhood business use
shall be more than fifty (50) feet in height above: the highest
point of ground elevation of the lot upon which the building. is
erected.
Subsection 5. Side Yards; None required.
Subsection 6. Set Backs; No structure erected for
neighborhood business use, and no accessory structure thereto,
shall be located nearer than twenty-five (2 ) feet to the boundary
line of any existing public road or highway.
Land use permits for the special uses enumerated in Sub-
section 1 of this Subdivision and to modify the provisions contained
in Subsections 3, 4 and 5 of this Subdivision may be granted after'
application therefor in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall take effect and be in:
forces from and after thirty (30) `days after the dates of its passage
and adoption, and the same shall be published once before the ex-
piration of fifteen (15) days after the dates of its passage and
adoption, in the 1119A NUT1 'KFR?�'EL" , a newspaper
printed and published in the County of Contra Caste, Mate
California, together with the names of the members of the Board
of Supervisors voting for and against the same.
The foregoing ordinance was passed and adopted by the
said Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, at
regular meeting of said. Burd, held on the 2$ . ',day of�ebrua.rv. ,
1949, by the fallowing vote:
