AN ORDINANCE REDUCING THE PERMISSIBLE SPEED AND LOAD
OF VEHICLES ON BRIDGE ON COUNTY ROAD E-11 OF THE COUNTY
OF CONTRA COSTA AND PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
State of California, do ordain as follows:
SECTION I: DEFINITION: The word "vehiclelt, as employed
in this ordinance shall include all vehicles and other objects
howsoever propelled or carried, which are moved over the bridge on
Brushy Creek on County Road E-11.
SECTION II: No vehicle with or without load weighing in
excess of seven (7) tons shall be operated, moved or transported on
or over any portion of the bridge at Brushy Creek on County Road E-11
(Hope Way) , located 3.01 miles north of the Alameda-Contra Costa
County line in the County of Contra Costa, State of California.
No truck or bus shall be driven or operated over and across
bridge on Brushy Creek on County Road E-11 (Hope Way) , located 3.01
miles north of the Alameda-Contra Costa County line, at a speed in
excess of ten (10) miles per hour.
SECTION III: The County Surveyor is hereby authorized and
directed to place at each end of said bridge a sign reading as follows:
"Seven tons per vehicle, maximum load; ten miles per hour for trucks
and busses ; one-way bridge for trucks and busses."
SECTION IV: Any person violating any of the provisionsof
this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
shall be punished by a fine of not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars
0500-00) , or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not to
exceedleix (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION V: This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days
after the date of its adoption and prior to the expiration of fifteen
(15) days from the passage hereof, shall be published at least once

in the "BRENTWOOD NEWS" a newspaper printed and
published in the County of Contra Costa, State of California, together
with the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for
and against the same.
The foregoing, ordinance was passed and adopted by the
said Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, at a
regular meeting of said Board held on the 4th day of October,
1948, by the following vote.-
AYES : Supervisors - S. S. Ripley, H. L. Cummings, Ray S. Taylor,
W. J. Buchanan, R. J. Trembath.
NOES: Supervisors - None.
ABSENT: Supervisors - None.
