THE BOARD 0FSUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA,; STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION N 1: Section 13 of said Ordinance No. 315, entitled,
"An Ordinance to Regulate the Compensation of Officers of the County
of Contra Costa, and to Provide for the Number, Appointments, Terms;
and Compensation of Deputies and Employees thereof: and. Repealing all
Ordinances or Parts of Ordinances' in Conflict Therewith-" passed and
adopted by the said Board of Supervisors of the said County of Contra
Costa on the 24th day of lvlay, 1943, is hereby <amended to real as fol-
los, to-wit:

Extra help to be allowed at branch jail at rate of
$8.00 per day, not to exceed per annum -- 2250.00
In. addition -to the salaries, compensation and fees hereinabove
allowedthe Sheriff shall receive and 'retain for his own use and benefit
the 'fees and compensation allowed by law for conveying' and transporting
prisoners to and from the state prison, and for conveying and transport-,
ing patients to and from the insane asylum or other state institutions,
as well as any and all other fees allowed by law in eivil eases.
SECTION 2: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: If any section, subsection sentence, olause or
phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional,
such decision shall not affect the validity of the reining portion of
this ordinance. The 'Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa
hereby declares that it would' have passed each provisions of this ordin-
anee irrespective of the fact that one or more ; sections', subsections,
sentences , clauses or phrases, or portions' thereof, be declared :;uncon-
situtional.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect thirty ( 30) days
after the date of its adoption and prior to the expiration of fifteen
(15) days from the passage hereof, shall be published at least one (1)
week in ` shut' Kernel , a newspaper printed and published
in the County of 'Contra Costa.,, Mate of California,' together with the
names of the members of the said Board' of Supervisors voting for and
against the same
