The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, the
governing body of the Central Fire Protection District, do ordain as
f ollows
SECTIO11T I.
It shall be unlawful for any person to build, light, maintain,
or cause or permit to be built, lighted or maintained, any open or out-
door fire at a distance within one hundred (144) feet of any building
or inlamable structure in the Central Fire :protection District of the
County of Contra Costa, State of California, without a written permit
first granted by the Chief of the Fire Department of the Central Fire
Protection District of the County of Contra Costa, State of California;
provided, however, that such permit is not necessary for the burning of
any f'lamable material in an incinerator constructed of noncombustible
material, completely enclosed and equipped with a spark arrester of wire,
metal screen, or equivalent, having a mesh or holes not to exceed one
quarter } inch or any spark arrester which is designed to provide the
equivalent protection.
SECTION 1I.
It shall be unlawful for any person to leave, or cause or per
mit to be left, any outdoor or open: fire unattended by any adult person
in the Central Fire Protection: District of the County of Contra Costa,
state of California. Before leaving any such fire , such person or per
sons in charge of such fire shall thoroughly extinguish same by complete--
ly covering it with dirt, saturating it with water, or otherwise treating
it in such manner to prevent rekindling of such fire.
SECTION in.
It shall be unlawful for any person., firm co-partnership,

corporation or association to place or maintain, or to cause or permit
to be placed or maintained, any obstruction, whether permanent or move-
able, before or upon any fire escape, exit, foyer, aisle, passageway,
corridor, or any other means of egress from any theatre, church, hospital,
auditorium, meeting hall, or other place used for public assemblage, while
open to the public, in the Central Fire Protection District of the County
of Contra Costa, State of California,
No persons shall be allowed to stand in the aisles or passage-
ways during any time such a building, or place is being used for public
assemblage*
All exit doors of such a building, or place, shall open out,
and during the use of such a building, or place, for public assemblage,
shall not be fastened in any manner except by self-releasing hardware
installed thereon, which doors and hardware shall be maintained to open
freely.
SECTION IV.
It shall be unlawful for any person., firm, co-partnership,
corporation, or association to accumulate, or to cause or permit the ac-
cumulation of rubbish, rags, paper or other inflamable refuse in any
theatre, church, hospital, auditorium, meeting hall, or other place used
for public assemblage in the Central Fire Protection District of the
County of Contra Costa, State of California,, in such manner as to con-
stitute a fire menace.
SECTION V.
It shall be unlawful for any person. to disobey the lawful or-
ders of any public officer or fireman in the immediate vicinity of the
burning of brush, stumps., logs., fallen timber, fallows, slash, grass,
grain, brush or forest covered land, or any other inflamable material
in the Central Fire Protection District of the County of Contra Costa,
State of California, or offer any resistance to or interfere with the
lawful efforts of any public officer, fireman, or company of firemen,
to extinguish the same, or engage in any disorderly conduct calculated
to prevent the same from being extinguished, or forbid, prevent or dis-
suade others from assisting to extinguish the same.

SECTION
It shall be unlawful for any person to ride , drive,, or propel
any vehicle or conveyance upon, over, or across any fire hose or chemi-
cal hose used by or in charge of any fireman or company of firemen in
the Central Firs Protection District of the County of Contra Costa,;
Mate of California, or to injure stir damage ;in any spanner any such hose
or fire apparatus of any kind.
SECTION
it shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle upon
any street or highway within three hundred (300) feet of any burning
building, or ether burning structure, in the Central "ire Protection
District of the County of Contra Coats, Mate of California, provided,
however, that this section 'shall notapply to vehicles of police offi -
ers, firemen or any ovmer, tenant or other occupant of such building,
or structure, or any authorized agents of such owner, tenant or ether
occupant.
SECTION VIII.
.,any ,person violating any of the provisions of, this ordinance
shall be ;guilty of a m sdameanor and shall upon conviction be punished
by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprison-
ment not exceeding six months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Every separate act or transaction in violation of this ordinance shall
be deemed a separate offense
SECTION
This ordinance shall be posted in three of the most public
places in said district for a period of two weeks, at the and of which
time it is a law for the government of the inhabitants of said district.

'he Board of supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, the
