CLAS3IFICATION OF TOWNSHIPS* The population of the several Judicial townships for the purpose of fixing the com- pensation of township officers shall be ascertained and declared by the Board of Supervisors in the month of July, 1938, and in the month of July every Pour years thereafter as follows** said board shall by order at a regular meeting determine the popula- tion of each township to be three (3) times the registration of legal voters on file July first of said year in each township, and every dour years thereafter succeeding, and it shall declare this sum to be the p6pulation of each township. Said township shall further be classified as follows** 6. CLASS 1--Townships having a population of more than twenty thousand (20,000) ; CLASS 24w-Townships having a population of from ten thou- sand and one (10,001) to twenty thousand (20,000) ; CLASS 3--Townships having a population of fry seven thou sena and one (r/ 001) to ten thousand (10,,000) " CL��SS�4--Townships having a population of from four thou- sand and one ('4,001) to seven thousand (7,000} ; CLASS- 5--Townships having a population of from two thou- sand and one (2,001) to four thousand (4,000) * CLASS 6--Townships having a population of Prom one thou- sand and one (1,001) to two thousand (2,000) ; -CLASS 7--Townships having a population of leas than one thousand (1,000). 10. N3TICES OF THE PACE. Justices of the Peace sha11 W-0-receive the following monthly salaries: (l) In townships of the first class �E K and ($307*00) DOL�AF�S per month. (2) In townships of the second class, ONE HUNDRED and SZVMTY-FIVE ($175.00) Dper month. (3) In townships of the third class, ONE HUNDRED and FIFTY-F0t1R ($154,sOO) Dper month. (4) In townships of the fourth class, ONE HUNDRMD and THIRTY-TW0 ($132.00) DO1 per month. (5) In townships of the fifth class, ONE HUrNDMED and TEN ($110.00) DARS per month. (6) In townships of the sixth class, FORTY (440.00) DOLZARg per month. (9) In townships of the seventh class, FIF2'MEN ($15*00) DOLi.AI�S per month. It is further provided, that there shall be and there is hereby allowed to each justice of the peace, e swn not to exceed twenty (20%) percent of his monthly salary, for expenses necessarily incurred in the conduct of his office. Each justice 7. of the peaoe shall file an itemized statement supported by re- oeipts or vouchers on the firat day of each and every month desig- nating the actual expenditure,,-, on his part of expenses necessarily incurred in the aonduet of his said off ice, for the preceding month, and no allowance shall be made to any justice of the peace for expenses necessarily incurred in the conduct of his said of- fice, unless same shall be itemized and designated in said claim filed by him as herein provided. (8) For purposes of this section the various dockets and legal forms required by the justices of the peace for the con- duct of their offices shall not be deemed to be expanses of their offices, but such dockets and legal forms, subject to the approval of the Diatriet attorney, shall be furnished by the County upon requisitions to the Purchasing Agent and the expense thereof shall be defrayed from a general fund appropriation for the purpose. (9) It is further provided that justices of the peace of all townships shall issue receipts for all money collected by them in the performance of their duties. There shall be and there is hereby allowed to the sheriff to be by him retained for his own use all mileage for service of papers in civil actions arising either in or outside of the County, excepting actions in which the county is interested, and also all mileage in criminal cases for each mile actually and necessarily traveled by automobiles at the rate of six and one-half (6-jo) cents per mile. .A1.1 fees collected by the sheriff for the service of papers and prooeases in civil matters shall be collected by the sheriff for the use and benefit of the County, and shall by him be paid into the County Treasury at such times and manner as re- quired by law. 9. 12. It is further provided that constables in townships of the first, second, third and fourth classes shall receive an amount not to exceed twenty-five (25%) per cent of their monthly salary as and for expenses necessarily incurred in the conduct of his oft'ice. Each constable shall file an itemized statement sup- ported by reeeipte or vouohere , on the first day of each and every month, designating the actual expenditure on his part of expenses necessarily incurred in the eonduet of his office, for the preceding month and no allowance shall be made to any con- stable for expenses unless the same shall be itemized and desig- nated in said claim filed by him as herein provided.
