AN ORDINANCE TO A E D SECTIONS 5 and 6, OF ORDINANCE NO. 224, TO REMILATE THE COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE NUMBER, APPOINTMENTS, TERMS AND CONTENSATION OF DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES THEREOF. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, State of California., or ordain as follows: To Amend Sectio ns 5 and 6, of Ordinance No. 224, of the County of Oontra Costa, to read as follows: ( 5) TREASURER. The Treasurer, three thousand five hundred 03, 504,00) dollars per annum, provided, that there shall be and there is hereby allowed to the treasurer one deputy treasurer ..who shall be appointed by the treasurer and who shall receive a salary of One hundred seventy-five ($175.00) dollars per month, said salary to be paid in monthly installments at the same time, in the same manner, and out of the same fund as the salary of the treasurer is paid; provided, further, that the said treasurer is hereby allowed such additional clerks and employees as he may deem necessary to appoint at a salary of four ($x+ .00) dollars per day each; provided, however, that the total amount of salary and compensation paid to such clerks and employees on a per diem basis shall not exceed the total of Seven hundred twenty dollars ($720.00) dollars per annum; and provided, further, that such clerks and employees shall be paid for their services out of the same fund as the salary of the treasurer is paid upon filing with the board of Supervisors of said county their duly verified claims for the sums due thea, provided, however, that the bond of the treasurer and his deputy shall be executed with a reliable bonding and surety company, and that the premiums on said bonds and the same having been duly approved, shall be a charge against the County and payable out of the general, fund upon the presentation and filing of duly verified claims therefor with the Board of Supervisors; provided, further, that the sums allowed herein to the treasurer shall be in full compensation for all work and labor done by the Treasurer in his capacity as such and all fees otherwise allowed him by statute shall be paid by him into the county treasury and shall not be retained by him for his own use and benefit. (6) Tax Collector. The Tax Collector, three thousand Five hundred ($3,500.00) dol.l.ars per annum; provided, that there shall be, and there hereby is allowed to the tax Collector the following clerks, deputies, and employees who shall be appointed by the tax collector and shall be paid salaries as follows: One Deputy tax collector at a salary of one hundred ninety-seven ($197.00) dollars per mont4 ; one deputy tax collector at a salary of one hundred fifty-four ($154.04) dollars per month ; one deputy tax collector at a salary of one hundred thirty-two ($132.44) dollars per month; one clerk at a salary of one hundred nineteen ($119.00) dollars Der month; one stenograph r at a salary of one hundred ten ($110.04) dollars per month, and such copyists as the Tax Collector may appoint at a salary of three and 507100 ($3. 50) dollars per day each, and such clerks as the tax collector may appoint at a salary of four ( 4.00) ' dollars per day each; provided, however, that the total amount of salary and compensation paid to such copyists and clerks shall not exceed the sum of three thousand Seven hundred and fifty ( 3,750.00) dollars, per annum, and such copyists and clerks shall be paid for their services. on presenting and filing with the board of supervisors of said cou- their duly verified claims therefor. The salaries of the deputies, clerks, and employees herein provided for shall be paid by said County in monthly installments at the same time, in the same manner and out of the same fund as the salary of the tax collector is paid; provided, however, that the compensation of such copyists and clerks shall be paid upon the presenting and filing of the claims with the board of SuD' ervisors as hereinbefore provided. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the 20th day of June, 1935, and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after the date of its passage the same shall be published with the names of the members voting for and against the same in the Crockett Signal, a newspaper printed and published in the County of Contra Costa.
