ORDINANCE No. 211 An Ordinance Regulating Horne, Dog and Animal Racing in the County of Contra Costa, and Providing for a License Fee Therefor. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, State of California., do hereby ordain as fol- lows:-- Section I. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to engage in the promotion, conduct, holding, maintenance, management or running of any races or other contests of speed or endurance be- tween horses, dogs or other animals, 1�n the Counts- of Contra Costa, with- out having first applied for and re- ceived a permit to do so from the Board of Supervisors of said coun- ty. Said permit and said applica- tion therefor shall expressly state the number of days and the dates during and upon which such horse races or contests of speed or endur- ance between animals are to be and are permitted to be promoted, con- ducted, held, maintained, managed : ncl run, as aforesaid. Section II. A license fee of two hundred fifty (250.00) dollars per day for each and every day, or frac- tion thereof, on which any such horse race or contest of speed or endurance between horses or other animals is conducted, or intended to be conducted is hereby fixed and j must be paid. Said license fee to be payable before twelve noon of 'I each day on which any such horse race or contest is to be conducted. Section III. Any person violating, or assisting in violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punish- able by a fine in a sum not to ex- ceed five hundred (500.00) dollars, or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period of not to exceed six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. It is fur- ther provided that each and every day that ,,uch violation continues, or exists, shall constitute a new and separate offense. Section IV. This Ordinance shall be published one week in the Contra Costa Gazette-Martinez Daily,Stand- ard, a newspaper of general circula- tion published in the County of Con- tra Costa., State of California, with- in fifteen days after the date of its 1)assage and shall take effect thirty (30) days after its passage. THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE was duly passed and adopted at an adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, held on the 25th day of July, 1932, by the follow- ing vote, to-wit: Ayes-Supervisors Jas. N. Long, 0s_ car Olsson, H. M. Stow, W. J. Bu- chanan and R. J. Trembath. Noes--Supervisors-None. Absent--Supervisors--None. W. J. BUCHANAN, Chairman. Attest: S. C. WELLS, Clerk. Pub.
