AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND
PROVIDING FOR A PLANNING
COMMISSION IN THE COUNTY
OF CONTRA COSTA, UNDER
THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER
838 OF THE 1929 STATUTES,
(192+9 STATUTES, PAGE 1505.)
The Board of Supervisors of the
County of Contra Costa, do ordain
as follows:
Section 1. A planning commis-
sion to consist of nine members,
six of which members shall be
appointed by the Chairman of the
Board of Supervisors with the
approval of said Board of Super-
visors; the seventh of said nine
members to be the duly elected,
qualified and acting County Sur-
veyor of the County of Contra
Costa, acting ex-officio as such
member; the eighth of said mem-
bers of said planning commission
to be a member of the Board of
Supervisors, to be selected by a
vote of the said Board of Super-
visors, and to act ex-officio by
virtue of his office of Supervisor;
and the ninth of said members to
be the duly elected, qualified and
acting District Attorney of the
County of Contra Costa, to act
ex-officio by virtue of his office.
Section 2. Said planning com-
mission shall be legally constituted
and have jurisdiction to proceed
to act as provided by law upon
the appointment of the members
thereof by an order of the Board
of Supervisors duly entered in the
minutes and upon each of said
members taking and filing oath of
office as provided by law.
Section 3. The Board of Super-
visors hereby declare that they
have passed this ordinance and
each section, sentence, phrase and
word thereof by virtue of the
authority in them vested, by an
act to provide for the establish-
ment of official master plans and
the appointment of planning com-
missions in cities, cities and
missions in cities,; cities and counties
and counties;prescribing the manner
of adoption of such plans, portions
thereof, amendments thereto and
composition thereof; prescribing;
the powers and duties of such
commission; providing for the
transfer thereto of the powers and
duties of other planning commis-
sions; providing for the prepara-
tion, adoption and recordation of
precise street plans; providing fo.
the control of the construction of
buildings within the lines of
streets shown on such precise
street plans; providing for the levy
of a special tax for the support of
a planning commission and other
acts pursuant to this act and
making certain expenditures legal
charges against the funds of cities,
cities and counties, and counties
and regional planning commissions;
providing for the establishment by
cities, cities and counties, and
counties, of regional planning cora-
missions, including two or more
cities, cities and counties, or
counties, or a portion or portions
thereof, or both; making certain
acts misdemeanors; and repealing
other acts in conflict herewith.

Section 4. This ordinance shall
take effect thirty (30) days after
its passage, and prior to the ex-
piration of fifteen (15) days after
passage thereof, shall be published
for one (1) week in the Contra
Costa Gazette, a newspaper of
general circulation printed and
published in the said County of
Contra Costa.
Passed and adopted at a regular
session of the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Contra Costa, on
the 21st day of October, 1929, by
the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Supervisors Kno,tt, Ols-
son, Hayden, Trembath and Chair-
man Buchanan.
NOES: Supervisors None.
ABSENT: Supervisors e.
