Ordinance of the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Contra Cost:, State of California, giving and granting to San
Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways, a corporation, permission
to suspend, operation for the period of five years over that
portion of its lines in the County of Contra Costa, :tate of
California, in this Ordinance hereinafter particularly des-
cribed, and empowering and directing the Astrict Attorney of
the said County of Contra Costa, State of California, to join
said San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways in an application
before the Railroad. Commission of the State of California,
:for its order determining the operation of the street railroad
of said San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways', together with
its branch and trunk lines, does not yield; sufficient income
to oper::.te the same, and for the further order of said Commis-
sion
o rds-sion for permission to suspend operation for a period of five
years ; over that portion of its lines in the County of Contra
Cost., State of California, in this Ordinance hereinafter
particularly described.
The Board of Supirvisors of the County of Contra. Costa,
State of California, do ordain as follows:
Section 1 . Permission is hereby granted to San Fran-
cisco-Cakland Terminal Railways, a corporation, to suspend the
operation and maintenance of a street railroad with single or
double tracks, and with all necessary or convenient side tracks,
turnouts; switches, curves, cross-overs, poles, wires, appur-
tenances and appliances for the period of five (5) years from
the date W the final order of the Railroad Commission of the
State of California granting permission to said. San Francisco
Oakland Terminal Railways, a corporation, so to do, and to
suspend for a like period the operation thereon of cars propel-
led by electricity or any other .votive power other than stem
for the purpose of carrying passengers, mail, express packages
and freight for hire , over, upon and along the route and those
certain public roads, highways, streets and alleys in the said
County of Contra Costa, Mate of California, the center lines
of which are described as follows, to-wit :

All that railway track lying and being in San Pablo'
Avenin, in Centra Costa County, south and east of the' City` of
Richmond, 'bounded and described as follows, to crit:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center
line of the railway track now existing in said. Ban Pablo Avenin
with the southern boundary lime of the City of Richmond, said
(oint of intersection beim situated about four hundred forty
440) feet southerly measured along the oenter-line of said
railway track from the southern line of Macdonald Avenues
produced across said Ban Pablo Avenue; and running southerly
from said point of intersection, along the center line of said
railway track in said Ban Pablo Avenue a distance of four
thousand four hundred thirty-five (4435) feet more or lose, to
the connection of the said railway trade with the railway
track which curves westward from Ban Pablo Avenue into Potrero
Avenue.
Nothing in this Ordinance contained shall be deemed, to
be, or shall be , a prohibition of the franchise , license,
privilege and rights of San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways ,
a, corpor--.tion , to resume the operation and maintenance of a
street railroad over the Tines and routes herein described,
with single or double tracks, and with neves-eary or convenient
side tracks, turn-outs, switches, curves, cross-overs, poles,
wires, appurtenances and appliances, at any time within said
period of five years from and a,ftei the date of said final
order of said Railroad Comitission of the State of California,
or to resume the operation thereon of cars propelled by
electricity or any other motive power other than steam for
the purpose of carrying passengers, rail, express packages
and freight for hire within said period of five years, at
the election of said San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways,
but permission is hereby expressly granted the said San Frain-
cisco-Ca,kiand Terminal Railways, a corporation, to operate and
maintain a street railroad over the lines and routes herein
described, with single or double tracks, and with a.11 neces-
sary or convenient side tracks, turn-outs, stitches, Curves,
cross-overs, poles, vires, appurtenances and appliances, at
its election, at any time within said period of five years,
and permission is further expressly granted to said. San Fran-
cisco Oakland Teruaina.l ilwa.ys to operate over the lines and
routes herein described cars propelled by electricity or other
motive power other than steam for the purpose of carrying
passengers, mail , express packages and fr_3iglt for hire at

This permission is granted xithout prejudice to the
Franchise, license, privilege and rights of San. Francisco-Oakland.
Tern:ina.l ail gays, a corporation, to operate and waintain a
street railroad with single or double tracks, and with all neoes-
sa.ry or convenient aide tracks, turnouts, switches, curves,
cross-overs, poles, wires, appurtenances and appliances, granted
by Ordinance No . 95 of said Board of Supervisors of the County
Of Contra. Costa, passed on the 6th day of September, lo04,
on and -after five years from date of the said final order of
said Railroad Commission of the State of California, and is
without prejudice to the franchise, license , privilege and
rights of said Can Franci-=-Oakland Terminal Railways to oper-
a—e over the Lines and routes herein described, cars propelled
by electricity or other motive povaer other than steam, for the
purpose of carrying passengers, Nail , express packages and
freight mor hire, granted by said Board of Supervisors of the
County of Contra, Costa, on the 6th day of September, 1PO4, on
and after Five years from: date of said final order of the said
Railroad Comrnisson of the State of California. The franchise,
license , privilege and rights of way and permission granted by
said Ordinance are expressly reserved to the ss. id San Francisco-
Oakland Terminal Railways .
Section 2 . The District Attorney of the County of
Contra. Costa, State of California, is hereby empowered and
directed to join said San. Francisco-Oakland Terminal Fa.ilma.ys
in an application before the Railroad Commission of the State
of California, for the order of said Commission determining
that the operation of the street railroad of said San 'rancisco-
Oakland Ter rafinal Rails#ays, together with its branch and trunk
lines, does not yield suft.ficient income to operate the same ,

and. for the further order of said Railroad Cox:=ission for per-
mission to suspend the operation of said portion of said rail-
road herein particularly described for the period of five years
from the date of said final order of the Ra,ilroa,d. Coma iss .on,
y;rarting permission to said 'San Francisco-Oakland Terminal
Railways.
This `.rdinance shall take effect and be in force from mid
after thirty days after its assage and. publication.
Passed this 19th day of June, 1.916 .
