HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES - 10201992 - 92-78 P/7 ORDINANCE NO. 92- 78 (Fee for Coroner's Removal and Keeping of Dead Body) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official text of the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code) . SECTION I. SUMMARY. This ordinance adds section 24-20.006 to authorize the coroner to impose a fee pursuant to Government Code section 27472 for removal and custody of a dead body and adds an uncodified section setting the fee at $100 as permitted by Government Code section 27472. SECTION II. Section 24-20.006 is added to the County Ordinance Code to authorize the coroner to charge a fee pursuant to Government Code section 27472 for the removal and keeping of a dead body to read: 24-20.006 Body Removal and Keeping Fee. As permitted in Government Code section 27472 (including amendments thereto) , the coroner is authorized to charge and collect a fee for expense incurred in removing a body from the place of death and keeping the body until its release to the person responsible for its interment. (Ord. 92- 78 2. ) SECTION III. An uncodified section of the ordinance, setting the amount of the fee for the coroner's removal and keeping of a dead body is added to read: Body Removal and Keeping Fee - Amount. The fee for the coroner' s removal of a body from the place of death and keeping the body shall be one hundred ( $100) dollars. This fee may be charged and collected by the coroner as permitted in Government Code section 27472. (Ord. 92- 78 , S 3. ) SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance becomes effective 30 days after passage, and within 15 days after passage shall be published once with the names of supervisors voting for and against it in the Contra Costa Times, a newspaper published in this County.
