Dear Supervisor Fanden:
The P. l. Advisory Committee has been asked by the
Crockett Recreation Association to sponsor an election
for the purpose of creating an assessment that will
produce revenue for the maintenance and operation of
the Crockett Pool, Tennis Courts, Park, and Community
Center. The Crockett Recreation Association hopes to
have the election on the June 1986 primary ballot. The
P. l.- Committee has agreed to sponsor the election with
the stipulation that the C.R.A. will pay for the costs
of the election (between yy500. 00 and $2500.OG ) .
The Crockett Recreation Association will be requesting
4?0, 000.CO per year; 425,000.00 for the pool, 420,OGO.00
for the park and tennis courts, and 430,000.00 for the
Co..nmunity Center. The basis for levying the tax will be
.,56.96 per parcel. Any future development would also be
taxed at :x56.96 per parcel. If there is any development
outside the P.1. district we would recommend that the
development be annexed into the P.l. district for
recreation purposes.
There is considerable coirL _unity support for this
proposal, which many believe to be the only way to secure
long term maintenance and operation of this valuable
recreation property. A petition is being circulated
in the co_nnunity that to date has over two hundred fifty
signatures.
The 2. 1.. Coimaittee is recommending that upon passage
of the assessment in the election, the P. 1. Committee
be increased to seven me hers and that two members of the
C .R.A. be ap;:ointed to fill these spaces on the P.l.
Advisory Committee.
Representatives of both co:n:nittees would like to
meet with you at ;;lour earliest convenience in order to
assure getting this on the primary 1186" ballot.
