HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES - 11291983 - 83-64 ORDINANCE NO. 83- 64 (Sheriff Sells Unclaimed Property) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official text of the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code) : SECTION I. Purpose. This Ordinance is to effectuate the 1983 amendment to Civil Code §2080. 4 (Stats. 1983 Chap. 878, AB-955) , and to simplify Ordinance Code Chapter 1108-4 by omitting repeti tions of the statutory provisions in Civil Code §92080 and follow- ing. SECTION II. Repeal. Section 1108-4.004 of the County Ordinance Code is repealed. SECTION III . Section 1108-4.008 is amended to read: 1108-4 . 008 Storage, Notice, Auction. The Sheriff shall store and provide for the care, restitution, sale, or destruction of personal property coming into his pos- session and unclaimed by the owner, pursuant to this Chapter and California Civil Code Sections 2080 and fol- lowing. (Ords. 83- 64 §3, 68-15 §2 : 1108-4.004 : prior code §§2671. 21 2671. 4: Ord. 983. ) SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance becomes effective 30 days after passage, and within 15 days of passage shall be published once with the names of supervisors voting for and against it in the MARTINEZ NEWS-GAZETTE a newspaper published in this County.
