These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau is the recipient of the 2008 Head Start Growing with Children Garden Grant issued by the California Head Start Association. This opportunity will help children learn more about nutrition and agriculture and to make their vision of a fully operational fruit and vegetable garden a reality. In addition, the two children's centers that received the award - George Miller III and Crescent Park — will receive resource, irrigation and Link-A-Board raised bed kits. k
