SUBJECT: Assistance League of Diablo Valley funding to the Independent Living Skills
Program (ILSP), Senior Year Expenses Sponsorship Program
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract
with the.Assistance League of Diablo Valley to pay County an amount not to exceed $10,000 for the Children
and Family Services Bureau, Independent Living Skills Program, implementation of the Senior Year Expenses
Sponsorships Program for foster youth residing in Contra Costa County for a term of October 15, 2008 through
June 30, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$10,000 County to receive funding from the Assistance League of Diablo Valley
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The funding Will support one (1) of the five (5) community outcomes in the Children's Report Card:
(2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood" by assisting foster youth with the cost
of high school senior year expenses fostering a high school graduation and self sufficiency.

Funding from the Assistance League of Diablo Valley to the Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP),
Senior Year Expenses Sponsorship Program
BACKGROUND:
The funding will assist program participates with the cost of high school senior year expenses. Program
participants are foster youth who are Juvenile Court dependents of Contra Costa County residing in Contra
Costa County and foster youth who are Juvenile Court dependents of any California County residing in Contra
Costa County. The Independent Living Skills Program will administer the Senior Year Expenses Sponsorship
Program on behalf of the Assistance League of Diablo Valley and will distribute the funds on to eligible foster
youth.
