RECOMMENDATION: l APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute an Interagency Agreement and mutual indemnification clause with Contra Costa County Office of Education in an amount up to $150,000 for tutoring services for children and youth in foster care for the period of October 1, 2008 through September 31, 2009. (All Districts) (#19-462-0) FISCAL IMPACT: $150,000; 70% State, 30% County, (Budgeted) Child Welfare Services (CWS) State Allocation CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The contracts will support two of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: (1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; (2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood", by strengthening the learning skills of children and youth in foster care through tutoring. BACKGROUND: The Employment and Human Services Department, Children and Family Services Bureau tutoring program will provide tutors to foster children and youth who do not have the services available through their school and need additional•educational instruction in the fundamentals, such as reading and math.
