SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#26-548-3 with Shirley E. Beshany, M.D.

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.), to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract#26-548-3 with Shirley E. Beshany, M.D., a self-employed individual,
(Specialty: Radiology), in an amount not to exceed $663,000, to provide professional radiology
services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for
the period from December 1, 2008 through November 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is fimded 100%by Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As
appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed or services.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
On December 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-548 (as amended by
Amendment Agreements#26-548-1 and#26-548-2) with Shirley E. Beshany, M.D., for the provision
of radiology services including consultation, on-call coverage services, supervision and interpretation
of CT Scan, MR1, Ultrasound, invasive procedures and plain films for Contra Costa Regional
Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from December 19, 2005 through
November 30, 2008.
Approval of Contract #26-548-3 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional
Radiology at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, through
November 30, 2011.
