HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01222008 - C.13 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING THE RESOLUTION NO. 2008/60 VOLUNTEER WORK OF CONTRA COSTA RESIDENT DAPHNE MILLER WHEREAS, Daphne Miller, a retired school bus driver, great-grandmother, and resident of Pleasant Hill, is a Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano-volunteer who delivers about 15,000 pounds of food per year to AIDS patients in Richmond; and WHEREAS, Daphne Miller also volunteers on the breadline at St. Anthony's Church in San Francisco, driving cancer patients to their appointments, and delivering food for Meals on Wheels; and WHEREAS, Daphne Miller works at Concord House, a home for people with developmental disabilities; and WHEREAS, according to Food Bank community distribution coordinator Leslie Tolman, Daphne Miller is "filling a position we wouldn't be able to with our staff.`..She never complains, and she's always got a smile. She's really a great example to all of us of being of service to the community"; and WHEREAS, Daphne Miller was named one of Diablo Magazine's Volunteers of the Year for 2007; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors hereby honors Daphne Miller for her dedicated, thoughtful, and inspiring work for the residents of Contra Costa County.
