SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20493 canceling one (1) full-time
Senior Disease Intervention Technician position (#8263, V7VB, Represented) at salary level
QT5-1480 ($4,535 - $5,512) and adding one (1) full-time Disease Intervention Technician
position (V7WB, Represented) at salary level QT5-1284 ($3,735 - $4,539) as recommended by
the Assistant County Administrator— Director of Human Resources.
BACKGROUND: Low staffing levels in the Public Health Division has eliminated the need for a
lead position in the unit. Instead, it would be more efficient for the unit to divide work among
existing staff. The new position would be shared between the Communicable Disease Program
and the AIDS Program. This action will allow the Public Health Division to meet their goals of
enhancing HIV reporting capacity and identifying individuals lost to care.
FISCAL IMPACT: This action results in an annual cost savings of$17,216.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Public Health
Division will not be able to provide appropriate and adequate staffing to its Communicable
Disease and AIDS programs.
