SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20488 to add one Graphics Designer position [Represented] and cancel one
Reprographics Technician II position #1813 [Represented]. As recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Director of
Human Resources. In the General Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The General Services Department Print and Mail Services Division has used contractors to support their Graphic Designer
services at an average cost of $825 per month. The salary and benefit costs of $6,824 for the addition of the Graphic Designer
position will be offset by the cancellation of the Reprographics Technician II position and the cancellation of the Graphics
Designer contract services. Therefore, there will be no additional County costs associated with adding the Graphic Designer
position.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, the Print and Mail Services Division does not have a permanent Graphic Designer. During the last year the division
has had two temporary Graphic Designers working full-time to provide graphic design services to County departments. In
addition, based on the work load it has been necessary to contract for graphic design services at an average cost of $825 per
month.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this request is not approved, the General Services Department will continue to utilize a contract employee to fill a
merit system position.
