SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#76-515-2 with Larkin Breed, M.D.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, (Jeff Smith, M.D.), to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract #76-515-2 with Larkin Breed, M.D., (Specialty: Radiology), a self-
employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $375,000, for the provision of professional radiology
services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the
period from January 1, 2008 through December 31,2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As
appropriate,patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to provide
specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital and clinics.
On December 14, 2004, the Board of Supervisors approved #76-515-1 with Larkin Breed, M.D., to
provide radiology services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa
Health Centers including, but not limited to, consultation, on-call coverage, and clinic coverage services,
for the January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2007.
Approval of Contract #76-515-2 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide radiology services for
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers,through December 31,2010.
