The costs of these contracts are included in the Department's FY 2007-08 budget. No net County costs. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department's Head Start program supports three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes - Outcome 1. "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self-sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low- income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: These proposed contracts are the result of a Request for Interest (RFI) conducted by the Department in November-December 2007. These contractors will provide training and technical assistance at the classroom level. The site-based training, which includes teacher training workshops and mentoring of the Department's preschool teachers and childcare providers, will provide critical support in classroom and behavior management. Approval of these contracts will allow the Department to continue to meet quality standards in early care and education.
