BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONTRA FROM: Lori Gentles, Assistant County Administrator— Director of Human Resources COSTA 4� DATE: COUNTY February 5, 2008 SUBJECT: Position Adjustment Resolution # 20518 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT Position Adjustment No. 20518 to add one (1) Account Clerk-Experience Level (Represented) position and cancel one (1) vacant Clerk-Senior Level (Represented) position #000546 in the Probation Department, as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator- Director of Human Resources. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no cost associated with this action as the cancellation of the Clerk-Senior Level position will offset the cost of the added Account Clerk-Experience Level position. BACKGROUND: The Probation Department is requesting to add one (1) Account Clerk-Experience Level position due to an increase in accounting transactions with other County departments and community based organizations. By consolidating the financial tasks related to this increase and realigning other clerical duties, the department can improve financial control and efficiency with the substitution of an account clerk position for the vacant senior clerk position. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is denied, the Probation Department will have insufficient accounting clerks to support the increased demand in accounting transactions.
