COMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Number 20331, ESTABLISHING the
classification of Environmental Analyst 1 (5RWA) (Unrepresented) and allocating it on the
salary schedule at salary level B85 1378 ($4099-$4982); ESTABLISHING the classification of
Environmental Analyst II (5RVA) (Unrepresented) and ALLOCATING it to the salary
schedule at salary level B85 1548 ($4850-5896); ESTABLISHING the classification of
Environmental Analyst III (5RTA) (Unrepresented) and allocating it to the salary schedule at
salary level B85 1695 ($5610 -.$6820); and transferring two positions (#6430 and #12317) to

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20331, establishing the classification of Environmental Analyst I (5RWA)[Unrepresented]and
allocating it on the salary schedule at salary level B851378($4,099-$4,982);establishing the classification of Environmental Analyst II
(5RVA) [Unrepresented]and allocating it to the salary schedule at salary level B851548($4.850-$5,896); establishing the classification of
Environmental Analyst III (5RTA) [Unrepresented]and allocating it on the salary schedule at salary level B851534($5,610-$6,820); and
transferring two positions(#6430 and#12317)to the Environmental Analyst I classification and transferring one position(#1739)to the
Environmental Analyst III classification as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Human Resources Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval,there will be no fiscal impact associated with this action.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department has requested the establishment of the Environmental Analyst series to meet the operational needs of the
'Department. Currently,the Department utilizes the Planner classification to review.the environmental impact and to ensure that mitigation
factors have been or will be taken to minimize the adverse environmental impact of projects administered by the Public Works Department.
However,the scope of the Planner classification does not require the incumbents to implement mitigation steps but is only responsible for the
initial environmental assessment.Additionally,the positions in Public Works apply for, negotiate,and obtain regulatory permits pursuant to
various Federal and State environmental regulations for county projects and are responsible for participating in all aspects of project
development from conception to completion. Due to the aforementioned responsibi 'es,the Public Works Departure t needs i umbents that
possess the specialized knowledge of natural resources, water and wildlife issue as ell as having specific exp i ce in t reas of
environmental impact mitigation,therefore,the Department is establishing the Environ ental Analysfseries.
