RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20526,to add one(1) permanent full-time Social Work Supervisor II (XOHA) position at
salary level 215-1745($5,895-$7,166) [Represented]and cancel one(1) Social Casework Specialist II (XOVB) position#10538
[Represented]as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Human Resources Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in a Net County Cost of $15,192 offset by a salary savings from an unfilled EHSD Division
Manager position included in the F2008/2009 budget.
BACKGROUND:
In August of 2006 the Department added 10 Social Casework Specialist positions as a result of the State Child Welfare, CWSOIP
Augmentation Allocation.After a review of staffing,caseloads and the span of control of supervision,the Department determined that a.
Social Work Supervisor II position is needed to provide adequate oversight and review for child welfare cases and delivery of services.

BACKGROUND:
Currently supervisors' span of control includes the supervision of 7 to 9 case carrying child welfare
workers and responsibility for the oversight of 140 to 180 children.
The Social Work Supervisor II will be assigned to a district office unit to balance the staff supervised and
oversight of the cases. The duties of the position will includesupervision and assignment of child welfare
cases to child welfare workers, including the review of court reports and of staff meeting the state
mandated requirements for documentation and face-to-face.visits of children and training of new workers.
