FISCAL IMPACT:
No impact to the General Fund. The $3,000 payment will be funded entirely by FC District 250500 Funds.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
The FC District has an ongoing program to support innovative watershed management activities by the Contra Costa
Resource Conservation District, the Contra Costa Community Development Department, the Contra Costa Clean
Water Program, the Alhambra Watershed Council, and other nonprofit groups in the Alhambra Creek watershed. To
date, these groups have made numerous precedent setting studies, including water quality monitoring, benthic
macro-invertebrate sampling, global positioning survey of creek features and stream slopes. The FC District will
benefit from continued development of watershed management protocols developed for Alhambra and Arroyo Del
Hambre creeks.. A watershed coordinator will ensure continued progress toward water quality improvement by
reducing the potential for duplication of effort and facilitating cooperation among various interested parties.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the financial support of the FC District, the Resource Conservation District will have to reduce its
involvement in the Alhambra watershed, which will result in less efficient programs performed by the County and
nonprofit organizations.
