BACKGROUND /REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
The Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District (District) is requesting $20,000 in Park
Dedication Funds to help finance improvements to the Pleasant Oaks Park. Pleasant
Oaks Park is the main location for the District's sports fields and currently is developed with
four youth baseball/softball fields, two soccer fields, a playground and parking.
The District is in the process of constructing a Sports Building containing space for a
concession area, meeting room and a restroom (approximately 800 square feet) and
storage area (approximately 400 square feet). The total cost of the project is estimated at
$249,000. Funds for the project have been allocated from the Pleasant Hill Baseball
Association ($188,000)and the District($42,000). The project is expected to be completed
by the end of March 2008.
It is the policy of the County to utilize park dedication funds to meet local and regional park
needs. The proposed improvements to the Pleasant Oaks Park are consistent with that
policy, and staff recommends approval of the request for Park Dedication funds.
