(50% Federal funds / 50% State funds) (All Districts) FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is funded by the Department's Federal Head Start and Early Head Start grants as well as the Department's State Child Development grant. The cost of this contract is included in the Department's FY 2007-08 budget and,#Il be included in the Department's FY 2008-09 budget. No net County costs. These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low- income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: This proposed contract is the result of a Request for Interest (RFI) conducted by the Department in November-December 2007. This contractor will provide tutorial assistance to mono-lingual Spanish speaking early care and education teachers enrolled in required college courses to meet State licensing and Head Start program regulations. The tutorial classes and small group sessions will help employees successfully meet educational benchmarks, which, in turn, will assist the department to meet state and federally mandated goals.
