Catholic Charities I T&TA contract (38-825-5) February 12, 2008
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department's
Head Start program supports three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes -
Outcome 1: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable,
and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services,
including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-
income children throughout Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
This proposed contract is the result of a Request for Interest (RFI) conducted by the
Department in November-December 2007. This contractor will provide tutorial
assistance to mono-lingual Spanish speaking early care and education teachers
enrolled in required college courses to meet State licensing and Head Start program
regulations. The tutorial classes and small group sessions will help employees
successfully meet educational benchmarks, which, in turn, will assist the department to
meet state and federally mandated goals.
