SUBJECT: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to enter into an interagency
agreement with the City of Richmond for forensic firearms examination services.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to enter into an interagency agreement with the
City of Richmond for forensic firearms examination services in an amount not to exceed $100,500 for the
period March 1, 2008 through February 28, 2009.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
No County Costs. 100% City of Richmond. Revenue; $100,500.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Richmond is in need of dedicated forensic services and training. Their casework most often is
performed through the Sheriffs Office Forensic Services Division. The Sheriffs Office is in need of additional
assistance in the Forensic Services Division. The funds provided through this interagency agreement will
enable the Sheriffs Office to engage John Murdock and Associates LLC under contract to conduct forensic
casework and firearms comparison for City of Richmond cases using the County laboratory.
