FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no financial impact associated with approval of recommended action. BACKGROUND Section 1108-2.212 of the County Ordinance Code authorizes the Purchasing Agent to dispose of any personal property belonging to Contra Costa County and found by the Board of Supervisors not to be required for public use. The property for disposal is either obsolete, worn out, beyond economical repair, or damaged beyond repair. Equipment - October 25, 2007 Dear Mr. Mann.- The ann:The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Advisory Fire Commission has authorized the disposal of the surplus property listed on the enclosed attachment at their Commission Meeting on December 10th, 2007. We request that your office proceed to have the attached list declared surplus by the Board of Supervisors and authorize the Fire District to dispose of these items. Correspondence — Reviewed. Commissioner Delcollo made a motion to accept file reports as written, seconded by Commissioner Haynes. All in favor, motion carried. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT: (Assistant Chief Ross answered questions in the absence of Fire Chief Richter.) • Stations 84 & 85 (Pittsburg) — Commissioner Haynes would like to see building footprint for new stations. AC Ross can make them available at the February '08 meeting. • Commissioners again expressed concern over the length of time it takes to coordinate our entry-level/promotional exams with County Human Resources. AC Ross noted that the Fire Chief has been meeting over the last few months with the County Administrator and the Human Resources Director and they are working on resolving our hiring issues. Commission members offered to send a letter expressing their concerns and in support of the Fire Chief's missive if he would so choose. AC Ross will convey this to Chief Richter. • A new Safety Officer position has been authorized by the Fire Chief. Job specifications are being compiled. This new position will be held by our current Training Chief, Ron Martin. District representatives will be meeting with the United Chief Officers Association (UCOA) to fill the Training Chief's position. • Engineer Academy— District is conducting meet and confer sessions with Local 1230 to finalize details. The first academy is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008. Will stress a "Back to Basics" education. • Michele Drive Investigation — Investigation Team anticipates releasing a preliminary report in January. • Station 16 Relocation (Lafayette) — District will be utilizing eminent domain to obtain one-acre parcel at Mt. Diablo Blvd/Paulson Court from land developer. OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: Declaration of Surplus Property— Reports of October 25 2007 - The report consists of computers and miscellaneous electronic equipment. Commissioner Haynes made a motion to approve the surplus equipment list as provided, seconded by Commissioner Egan. All in favor, motion passed.
