FROM: William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director +,tn`wa Costa DATE: December 9, 2008 '4 COU13 County SUBJECT: 35-Year Service Award Presentation SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT Resolution No. 2008/732 to recognize Raymond Gonzalez, Eligibility Work Specialist, on the occasion of his 35th year of service to the County, and to thank him for his exceptional work in California Children Services. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: Raymond Gonzalez began work as an Eligibility Worker with Contra Costa County Social Services on October 9, 1973. Thirty-five years later Raymond continues to serve our community as Eligibility Work Specialist in California Children Services (CCS) in the Public Health Division of Contra Costa Health Services. Contra Costa California Children Services provides care for 3,200 very ill children and their families. The program arranges and pays for specialty care for conditions such as cerebral palsy, cancer, sickle cell anemia and trauma. CCS succeeds in assuring low income children receive excellent medical care and rehabilitation services to reach their potential. Raymond is proud of the work he does on behalf of the county. He assists over 1,500 families a year, explaining the CCS program, assessing financial and residential eligibility, supporting them in pursuing primary health insurance. On a daily basis he gives his best to his clients, is always collaborative with colleagues, and goes above and beyond by volunteering in efforts such as the County Health Disparities Committee and the Concord Multi-Agency Trauma Team. u'�
