SUBJECT: Contract amendment with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or
designee, to execute a contract amendment with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa,
effective November 1, 2008, decreasing the contract by $76,605 from $202,665 to a new
payment limit of $126,060, with no change in the contract term of July 1, 2008 through
June 30, 2009 to provide Long Term.Care Ombudsman Services to Seniors.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County Costs: $126,060 Older Americans Act Title .111B and Title VII; 100% Federal
BACKGROUND:
Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa provides long-term care ombudsman services for
adults including mediation and conciliation services, creation of Family Councils for
support of families of long term care residents, report investigation of physical abuse of
all dependent adult and elder residents of long term care faciliti education and training
of senior's.rights, benefits, and entitlements.

SUBJECT: CONTRACT WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE OF NORTH
RICHMOND.
The California Department of Aging (CDA) has sent notification of changes in funding
availability for Long Term Care Ombudsman services that have resulted in a net
decrease of$76,605 in funds available for FY 2008/2009 for this contracted service.
