SUBJECT: . Contract with the Contra Costa Community College District(CCCCD) for
reimbursement to County of off-campus childcare for California Work Opportunity
and Responsibility to Kids (CaIWORKs) participants enrolled as students at
Contra Costa College.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract
with the Contra Costa Community College District(CCCCD)to pay County an amount not to exceed $60,000 of
the CCCCD's California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CaIWORKs) off-campus childcare funds
allocation for off-campus childcare provided to CaIWORKs participants enrolled as students at Contra Costa
College for the period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Up to $60,000 may be claimed by the County for off-campus childcare. Reimbursement to County by Contra
Costa Community College District (CCCCD)with State CaIWORKs funds allocated to the CCCCD.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The funding will support three of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card,
(3) °Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; (4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and,
(5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" by funding safe
off-campus childcare for CalWORKs participants attending college classes allowing participants to seek an
education and up grade skills to assist in attaining and maintaining self-sufficiency
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Community College District(CCCCD) receives a State allocation of CalWORKs funding
services to CalWORKs participants enrolled as students at CCCCD campuses. This revenue
contract will allow the Employment and Human Services Department(County) to identify and claim
reimbursement in an amount up to $60,000 for off-campus childcare provided to CalWORKs
participants enrolled as students at Contra Costa College.
