In 2007-2008, First 5 Contra Costa invested $10 million in a variety of programs benefiting children
and families. Nearly seventy percent of this funding was allocated to local nonprofit organizations.
This presentation is a snapshot of our progress and accomplishments over the last year.
Last year, First 5 funded programs directly benefited over 15,000 children, parents, and providers.
• 77% of children served were age three or younger.
• Over half of children served were Latino.
• Almost all children served had health insurance and were up-to-date on immunizations.
• 16% of children had been diagnosed with a developmental delay or disability.
• 80% of families served earned less than $30,000.
• Most families served lived in Antioch, Concord, Bay Point, Pittsburg, or Richmond.
In addition,'our funded programs:
• Delivered 23,000 educational kits to help parents care for their new babies.
• Connected thousands of parents and children to needed resources at community events.
• Referred 7,825 callers to 211 looking for assistance and local services.
• Provided information to over 50;000 Bay Area parents through weekly bilingual radio
programs.
