RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPOINT the following individuals to seats on the Economic Opportunity Council (EOC)with terms
expiring on June 30, 2009, as designated below:

BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The Economic Opportunity Council was created in 1965 pursuant to the Economic Opportunity Act of
1964. This advisory body makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on the distribution of
funding and performance of Community Services Block Grants and Weatherization Program services,
the selection of the Community Services Director, and advises on the administration of the Community
Action Program.

Membership on the EOC is comprised of a total of fifteen members and two alternates including five
public sector seats either filled by the members of the Board of Supervisors or their appointed
delegates, five low-income sector representatives and one alternate, and five private/non-profit sector
representatives and one alternate. Appointments are for two year terms beginning on July 1 and ending
on June 30. Representatives, except for Board of Supervisor members who choose to personally serve
on the EOC, are limited to a maximum of three consecutive full terms. However, appointments to partial
terms do not count toward the limit.
