Martinez, CA 94553 (925)372-7785 Home (925)408-4568 Cell Currently the search for ones ancestors is the fastest growing avocation in the United States,California,and Contra Costa County. I would like to thank the Board for the Proclamation designating October as family history month for Contra Costa. County. The Concord Family History Center and the Centers in Antioch, and Danville offer an opportunity for any one interested to utilize our resources,receive help from our staff, and search a variety of inter-net family history oriented web sites to seek out their ancestors. The only charge to our patrons is printing costs and/or the cost of ordering in microfilm or Microfiche from among the millions available from our Salt Lake City Family History Library. For some time we have been offering at no charge, a program called"A Gift of Family History". If an individual will provide us with at least three generations of their family history,we will make an effort to research the information available from a variety of sources on the inter-net and provide them with a report of what we have found and suggestions for further research. Also on October 20th the Concord Family History Center is holding a one day seminar related to Family History. Classes will be offered to those just getting started as well as advanced researchers. Our"flier"and registration form is available to all interested. The date for registration for those interested in receiving a syllabus was October 1. We needed to know how many syllabi to prepare,but anyone interested in attending can still register. Also present are John Willis,Assistant Director, and Board Members of the Contra Costa History and Genealogical Society.
