SUBJECT: Contract with Tighe Boyle for implementation of Senior Mobility
Improvement Project
The Area Agency on Aging of Contra Costa County's Employment and Human Services
Aging and Adult Services Bureau received Federal Title III-B one-time only funds to
provide supportive services. These funds were made available by the State from
statewide unexpended, unallocated, recovered, and supplemental grant funding from
fiscal year 2005-2006 and can be used for innovative pilot projects as approved by the
California Department Aging (CDA). The purposes of the Senior Mobility Improvement
Pilot Project as approved by CDA are to: 1) promote and expand education and
resources available to older drivers in order to ensure safety when driving, 2) promote
self-assessment and self-determination by providing a tool which enables older adults
to review ones own driving skills, and 3) provide resources in order for non-drivers
(particularly those who have recently lost their licenses) to maintain their mobility.
