CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment& Human Services Department's Head
Start program supports two of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for
and Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early
childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra
Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
On September 12, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved agreement 39-811-26 /
CPRE 6029 with the Contra Costa College District for state preschool program
services to be provided by the Community Services Bureau of the Employment&
Human Services Department. The proposed agreement amendment (1)will add
$61,540 for a new total payment limit of$1,101,065 due to a daily maximum
reimbursable rate change from $18.45 to a new rate of$19.54 per child. The State,
and in turn the College District, routinely adds dollars to child development contracts
after initial execution, prior to the close of the fiscal year.
