RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2007/,providing for a program of compensation and benefits for County Elected and Appointed
Department Heads, Management Employees, Exempt Employees and Unrepresented Employees for the period October
1, 2005 to September 30, 2008.
BACKGROUND:
This Resolution would provide employees in job classification in the attached Appendices a general wage increase as
follows:

ATTACHMENT
1) Employees in job classifications in Appendix A are designated as miscellaneous employees
(for retirement plan purposes), shall receive wage increases as follows:
July 1, 2007 Wages: 2%
July 1, 2008 Wages: 2%
2) Employees in job classifications in Appendix B are designated as safety employees (for
retirement plan purposes), and assigned to the Office of the Sheriff, shall receive wage
increases as follows:
October 1, 2006 Wages: 2%
October 1, 2007 Wages: 2%
March 1, 2008 Wages: 2%
Sixth Salary Step: Effective January 1, 2008 the County shall add a sixth step of 2.5% if
applicable, in base pay to the salary range for safety classifications assigned to the Office of the
Sheriff. The time between steps shall be as follows: 6 months between Step 1 and 2. The time
between Step 2 and Step 3 shall be 12 months. The time between Step 3 and Step 4 shall be
12 months. The time between Step 4 and Step 5 shall be 12 months. The time between Step 5
and Step 6 shall be 18 months. The total shall be 60 months (5 years) from Step 1 to Step 6.
3) Employees in job classifications in Appendix C are designated as safety employees (for
retirement plan purposes), and assigned to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, shall
receive wage increases as follows:
January 1, 2006 Wages: 6.3%

THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in its capacity as governing Board of the County of
Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES THAT:
WHEREAS, The Board adopted Resolution No. 2002/615 that provides for a program of compensation and
benefits for County Elected and Appointed Department Heads, Management Employees, Exempt Employees and
Unrepresented Employees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 2002/615 is amended to provide the following:
1) Employees in job classifications in Appendix A are designated as miscellaneous employees (for retirement plan
purposes), shall receive wage increases as follows:
July 1, 2007 Wages: 2%
July 1, 2008 Wages: 2%
2) Employees in job classifications in Appendix B are designated as safety employees (for retirement plan
purposes), and assigned to the Office of the Sheriff, shall receive wage increases as follows:
October 1, 2006 Wages: 2%
October 1, 2007 Wages: 2%
March 1, 2008 Wages: 2%

may have been inadvertently excluded from the Appendices.
