HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01232007 - AJ.1 Adjournment THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adjournment January 23,2007 On this day the Board of Supervisors adjourned this meeting in honor of George Cardinet and fellow equestrians lobbied for establishment of the state's first hiking and riding trail on a 1,200-mile route between the coastal hills and the Sierra. He also was a key supporter of a 1968 law to establish a federal trail system. Cardinet led a 900-mile ride from Mexico to Contra Costa in 1976. The riders followed the national Anza trail, the route Spanish explorers used to arrive and settle in the Bay Area, and Cardinet was one of the few who rode the entire route.
