CPRE 6030 Amend 1 January 16, 2006
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department's Head Start program supports two of Contra Costa
County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and "Families
that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive
services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-
income children throughout Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
On September 12, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved agreement CPRE 6030
with the California Department of Education for state preschool services to be
provided by Contra Costa County Community Services Department. The proposed
agreement amendment (1) will add $33,821 for a new total payment limit of$605,125
due to a daily maximum reimbursable rate change from $19.17 to a new rate of
$20.30 per child. The State routinely adds dollars to child developrnent contracts
after initial execution, prior to the close of the fiscal year.
