The project is funded by Proposition 42 Funds (100%). REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate and preserve existing roadway on McConnell Lane, Christmas Tree Court, Gerry Court, Trina Court, and Mynah Court in the Walnut Creek area. The project consists of pavement grinding,base failure repairs,isolated pavement reconstruction,crack sealing,key cutting the pavement,removing and replacing pavement markers, adjusting utilities, manholes, drainage inlets, conforming roadway, installing reinforced fabric and asphalt overlay, installing shoulder backing and curb ramps, and restriping roadways. The project is located in Central Contra Costa County, in the unincorporated area of Walnut Creek. There is no possibility that the project may have a significant adverse effect on the environment. The project consists of the operation, repair, and maintenance of existing facilities involving no expansion of use beyond that previously existing. The project will not result in the removal of any scenic resource. Location: The project is located in unincorporated central Contra Costa County, Walnut Creek area (Figs. 1-3). 2. Project Description: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate and preserve existing roadway (approx. 2,855LhzearFeet). The project consists of pavement grinding, base failure repairs, isolated pavement reconstruction, crack sealing, key cutting the pavement, removing and replacing pavement markers, adjusting utilities, manholes, drainage in lets, conforming roadway to driveways and drainage inlets, installing reinforced fabric and asphalt overlay, installing shoulder backing and curb ramps, and restriping roadways. (Figs. 1-3) McConnel Lane (Walnut Blvd. to Gerry Ct.): In addition to rehabilitating approximately 1,165 LittearFeet (LF) of roadway, approx. 400 Sgt,!are Feet (SF) of pavement will be reconstructed and conformed to roadway. Portions of sidewalk on the southwest and southeast corners of McConnel Lane at Walnut Blvd.will be removed and replaced with Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA)compliant curb ramps,and sidewalk. (Fig. 3) Christmas Tree Court (adjacent to north side of McConnel Ln. to end of cul-de-sac): In addition to rehabilitating approxi»tately 170 LF of roadway, approx.400 SF of pavement will be reconstructed. (Fig. 3) Gerry Court (southerly from McConnel Ln. to end of cul-de-sac): In addition to rehabilitating approxitnately 1,010LF of roadway, approx.4,350 SF of pavement will be reconstructed. Drainage inlets will be adjusted and conformed to roadway. (Fig. 3) Trina Court(Gerry Ct.to end of cul-de-sac): In addition to rehabilitating approxitnately 190 LFof roadway, approx. 400 SF of pavement will be reconstructed. View Blvd. to end of cul-de-sac): In addition to rehabilitating cipproximarell,320 LF of roadway, approx. 560 SF of pavement will be reconstructed, and minor sections of roadway will be conformed to improve drainage into inlets and valley gutters. (Fig. 3) Residential streets will be closed for approximately half a day in order to apply the road surface treatment and to provide sufficient time for it to adhere to the road surface. Residents will be notified prior to any activity and "No Parking"signs will be posted the day before actual application. Emergency vehicle access will be allowed at all times. Tree branches and shrubbery may need trimming throughout the project. Ornamental trees and shrubbery may need to be removed. In order to minimize damage to any near by trees, any roots exposed during excavation will be cut cleanly and tree branches will be trimmed.
