SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or
designee, to execute a contract with Estelle Gregory, in the amount of $40,000, to
provide psychiatric evaluations and expert testimony for conservatorship cases for the
period February 1, 2007 through.January 31, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$40,000: 100% Block Grant Funds for Adult Protective Services
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports none of the community outcomes established in the Children's
Report Card.

t ' SUBJECT: Contract with Estelle Gregory, M.D., for Psychiatric Evaluations and
Expert Testimony for Conservatorship Cases
BACKGROUND: .
Dr. Estelle Gregory provides psychiatric evaluations and expert testimony as.requested
by Employment and Human Services Department's (EHSD) Lanterman-Petris-Short
(LPS) program for court-related services and trials. At this time she is the only
psychiatrist EHSD can use and accordingly, EHSD has increased need for her services
as more cases are being.brought to trial. Without the increase to.her contract EHSD
will not be able to fulfill its legal obligations.
