HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02272007 - C.60 ss L Contra Costa TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS County FROM: LORI GENTLES, Assistant County Administrator- Director of Human Resources xq `�'"' oz DATE: February 27, 2007 SUBJECT: P300 #20250 -Human Resources SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20250 to reclassify the incumbent of a Labor Relations Analyst II (unrepresented) position to the class of Labor Relations Specialist 11 (unrepresented) position in the Human Resources Department. FISCAL IMPACT: The action will result in a one time net cost of $2,500 in FY 2006/07. Ongoing additional cost associated with this action will be budgeted in FY 2007/08. BACKGROUND: In the absence of a Labor Relations Manager during the past year and the absence of permanent, trained staff, the incumbent assigned in the Labor Relations Analyst II classification has taken on additional work duties and responsibilities to ensure that the day-to-day activities of the Labor Relations Unit are being handled in the most effective and timely manner possible. The incumbent has also assumed an even greater role in ongoing contract negotiations and has been an integral part in the successful settlement of contracts within the Labor Coalition. The reclassification will provide continued Labor Relations support and will appropriately compensate the incumbent. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve this reclassification will jeopardize the County's ability to successfully negotiate equitable labor agreements in a timely manner, and will jeop a the County's ab" ity to resolve labor disputes and advise department staff regarding MOU, proc a ano polic ter etation.
